Victor Japan will release the new Greatest Hits. (2008/11/05)
Victor Japan, new AOB distributor in Japan, announced the label release new Ace of Base's Greatest Hits on 19th November. Amazon.co.jp has already started pre-order for the album.
BM get success in Kyoto! (2003/04/21)
On almost of radio charts, BM is losing its strength, but in old capital Kyoto, BM is climbing up the chart!

DCJ drop out from Planet International chart. (2003/04/01)
On this week planet international CD sales top 20, there is no DCJ.
Sales of DCJ reached 20,000. (2003/03/29)
Accoding to official Japanese chart Oricon, DCJ have sold 20,000 copies by last week. Because of many new entry (8 albums of top 10 are new entries), DCJ drop off from top 50 but DCJ sold more than 5,000 copies last week.
Toshiba EMI take German Acer Meeting as news. (2003/03/26)
Toshiba EMI mentioned German Acer Meeting held on March 14-16 in their news section. EMI expressed the meeting as great success. And they also mentioned that DCJ went on topic among international acers.
Notice about Official site's report about Japanese chart. (2003/03/25)
Today AOB official site reported that DCJ gets No. 10 on Japanese official chart. But please don't misunderstand it! The position "No. 10" means 10th position among international artists and compilation of international artists. DCJ did not get No. 10 position in any sales charts about all album CD. For example, DCJ debut at No. 40 at Oricon (= official) album sales chart.
Now BM is seems to be at peak position. (2003/03/24)
Researching around weekend charts, on some charts BM still climb up but on other charts BM goes down. I think it means BM is around its peak position now.
BM gets No. 1 in Zip FM Dance chart!! (2003/03/22)
The program of Zip FM, Zip Dance Hits 20 aired friday, and BM gets No. 1 in this chart!! The chart is made by summing up 3 types of scores, CD album sales, the number of airplays in Zip FM and the number of airplays in Club/Disco hole around Nagoya. This will be good symptom for coming back on top in Zip Hot 100 Sunday.
Arista will sell "Platinum And Gold Collection". (2003/03/22)
According to hmv.co.jp, Arista will sell AOB's new product "Platinum And Gold Collection" from May 6. This is not Japanese issue product, but import product from USA.
Ace Of Base get high rank in Listen Japan! (2003/03/22)
Listen Japan reports AOB get high rank in their latest ranking. According to their page about ranking, AOB gets No. 1 among "international alternatives or punk artists" and No. 2 among "international electronica and dance artists".
DCJ still have sold 15,000 copies. (2003/03/21)
According research company "Oricon", DCJ have sold about 15,000 copies. It means DCJ sell more than 7000 copies each week. Comparing with 3rd, it is not good (CS sold more than 10,000 copies each week) but comparing with in other countries, it's terribly good.
DCJ gets higher position in sales chart! (2003/03/18)
According to Planet, the servey company, DCJ gets a little higher position in 2nd week than in 1st week. Laset week, DCJ debuted at No. 46 and this week DCJ is on No. 41. The position among international artists is still No. 7.
Result of "Chart weekend" (2003/03/18)
I confirmed all charts listed above, and BM's act is still good! In all without two charts, BM gets higher position. In Zip, one of 2 disappointed result, BM dropped from 1 to 2. This caused by ".t.A.T.u. phenomenon". 2 week before, not only AOB, but .t.A.Tu. start to sell their Japanese edition album. The album sell much, and gets Japanese official chart's No. 1, beated all international and domestic artists. This is first time that international artist gets straight to No. 1 as rookie debut. This great CD sales score effect much on Japanese radio chart because almost charts are made from summing 3 scores; airplays, requests and CD album sales.
"Chart weekend" start! (2003/03/14)
In Japan, most radio charts are published in weekend, Friday to Sunday. This weekend is very important for Ace Of Base and Da Capo because this is the first chart containing DCJ's sales.
And results of Friday show DCJ's success in the first week! In Kiss FM, BM jumped up in Top 10! And in Zip FM's Dance chart, BM gets No. 2! This Zippy's result means many DJs air BM in their clubs.
DCJ sticker are being presented by J-Wave (2003/03/12)
"J-WAVE Good Morning Tokyo", a radio program aired through J-Wave, now hold a campaign presenting their original DCJ sticker! You can get the sticker by seeing the campaign car, or buy DCJ at Tower records Shinjuku.
DCJ debut at No. 9 on Oricon international album chart! (2003/03/12)
Reported by Yahoo Japan, DCJ entered the Oricon initernational album sales chart!!. Oricon is the Japanese Official chart and they report album chart weekly. Internatinal album chart is the rank on Oricon album sales chart among international artists and compilation. Excluding compilation, DCJ is 7th among international artists' original album. Because They report only top 30 album sales chart on their website, so I don't know what position among all albums and how much DCJ sell.
And t.A.T.u is the first artists debuting No. 1 as international rookie artist in histry of Japanese official chart Oricon.

DCJ sales result: It's 7th among internatinal artists! (2003/03/11)
The Japanese research institution "Planet" published their latest CD sales charts. Japanese Da Capo debut at No. 46 position and it's 7th among international artists (except compilations). It is good position and there is big posibility to climb up more next week because BM is not stop climbing radio chart!
And in Tower records' chart that yesterday I reported, DCJ gets higher position than yesterday, it's 8th! And also in HMV's daily dance and soul chart, DCJ gets 8th!
DCJ entered in sales charts by high position! (2003/03/10)
Da Capo JPN enter in album sales charts and is ranked in top 10!! In Tower Records' weekly international album chart, DCJ is ranked at No. 9 in first week and in HMV's Dance & Soul daily chart, DCJ is also ranked at No. 9.
And today, I went to "the music city" Shinjuku, I can't find DCJ any 3 biggest CD shop. In tower records Shinjuku (the biggest shop in Shinjuku), I ask shopkeeper "Excuse me, I am now finding CD but I can't find it. The CD I search is Ace Of Base's...". Before I say whole sentence, he said "Da Capo? I'm sorry they are all sold out! Now we ordered more." In other 2 CD shop, HMV and Virgin Mega Store, DCJ was sold out and now in order!!
I never have heard that new album is out of stock before one week in such big CD shops as Tower Records, HMV or Virgin Mega Store. Only exception I know is Hikaru Utada's "First Love", which is most selling CD in Japan - it sold 7 million.
BM gets No. 1 at Zip FM!! (2003/03/10)
BM get success in Japanese Radio Station Charts!! Especially in Zip FM, BM gets No .1 only 4 weeks!!! That's great success!
Deciding a song's chart position, Japanese radio charts use unique system. A song is rated by not only airplays but also by requests and ALBUM sales. In Japan, international artists sell SINGLE very small. So in rating a song by single, its unfair to international artists. It is the reason that radio station use album sales score on deciding chart position.
Zip FM also use the system I explain above. They count album sales in Nagoya city (4th biggest city in Japan), but I don't know Japanese Da Capo salese is included in the score because DCJ started to sell only 3 days before from the day publishing the chart.

BM video will appear on Japanese TV! (2003/03/03)
Informing by great Japanese acer yuri on the Spika's BBS, Japanese TV station TV Kanagawa will air vido of Beautiful Morning on March 7. TVK's only international music video program Sony Music Access publish the list of the video they'll air on their website.
BM gets high position in some charts. (2003/03/03)
Despite Da Capo JPN do not start to sell, BM make its positon higher on the charts, and on some radio station, BM succeed to declare Ace Of Base's coming back for the high position. In Zip FM, BM gets No. 6 with only 3 weeks, and in J-Wave, BM climbs up No. 28 from No. 69 as it is the activest mover on this chart.
 Da Capo JP climb up HMV Japan's Out Soon chart. (2003/02/28)
Because some acers order Da Capo JP by subscription, Da Capo JP gets higher position at hmv.co.jp and amazon.co.jp. Especially, on HMV Japan, Da Capo JP appear at the top of Dance and Soul section for jumping up top 3, you see it on the right.

Beautiful Morning on the charts. (2003/02/25)
BM debuts on some radio charts last weekend. Because these charts are summed up 3 scores, a number of airplays, a number of requests, and a number CD "album" (Not single) sold, the position that BM debut are not bad. Japanese Da Capo don't sell yet, and stock of import Da Capo is small. So soon BM will jump up around top 30. But more jumping up require much CD sales.
Special AOB program on the Bay FM. (2003/02/20)
Bay FM (78.0MHz), the Biggest radio station in Chiba prefecture, will air special program about Ace Of Base! This one hour special program is broadcast from 14:00 on Saturday, March 8.
Chiba prefecture is next to Tokyo and 6th big prefecture in 47 prefecture of Japan. There are 6 million people living in. Bay FM has 20 million potencial listner around South Kanto area (including Tokyo, Yokohama, and other big city).

Yahoo Japan announced that BM debut at No. 5 in airplay chart on Nagoya area! This position is very high because BM only starts to be aired later last week.

Nagoya/Tokai area is 3rd biggest area in Japan. I checked Zip FM, No.1 radio station in this area, BM is debut with highest position of this week at No. 60 in Zip Hot 100. Each position of chart is calcurated by summing 3 points, airplays, requests and CD album sales. I think latter 2 points is low now. So next week BM will be seemed to jump up its position.

On 3:00 AM Feb. 19, Unspeakable video will air on MTV Japan. This may be 1st time to air video from Da Capo in Japan. You can check it on the time table of MTV Japan.
1st single in Japane is "Beautiful Morning" and EMI starts promotion! (2003/02/16)
From 2 days ago, some radio staion air "Beautiful Morning". This means 1st radio cut single in Japan is BM. And some music news websites announced "Da Capo", and Ace Of Base's coming back. I translate one of announcements.
News of Lycos Japan (translated)
On March 5, the dance pop unit representing the music scene of Sweden, Ace of Base, release the new album for the first time in 4 years. The song of "Da Capo" is selected carefully from no less than 150 candidates, and finally there are the songs with light dance beat which is characteristic of Ace Of Base. They (translator don't know who are "they") has confidence in the quality of pop and a little bit melancholic melody. Japanese edition has some additional bonus tracks and original cover.

Summer Days is the song never been sold.
I wonder WHY Show Me Love is deleted since some Japanese acers loves the song.
I find that Da Capo already sell in Korea. Da Capo start to sell from 2003/01/28. The distibutor is Universal Korea and 1st single is "Beautiful Morning". These information still be reported on www.aceofbase.com. It is the NEWs that Korean Da Capo doesn't include any bonus track.
Filur glows their influence more in Japan. (2003/02/04)
On some radio station, Filur's new single "Peace" gets much airplays and charted higher. The Danish duo, for example, is on No. 15 in Tokio Hot 100. This position is no. 7 among international artists. Tokio Hot 100 is published by J-wave, which is the most influencial radio station in Japan. Their succes may be good for Ace Of Base's new album Da Capo because the duo related AOB on mixing "Unspeakable".

Toshiba EMI says that a cover of Da Capo (Japan) will differ from Da Capo(Europe) on their website. The new cover is the same photo as Unspeakable's back cover.
Toshiba EMI also says that Da Capo (Japan) include a bonus track. I think that that Beautiful Morning is chosen as sample song of Da Capo suggest the song may be 1st single in Japan.

Do you know The Axel Boys Quartet's "All That She Wants"? (2003/01/31)
Axel Boys Quartet is danish band and cover AOB's famous "All That She Wants". I uploaded the song here (mp3 format). It was taken from their album "Everybody Else" (1996, FLEX Records.) They also cover "Dub-I-Dub" (Me & My), "Scatman" (Scatman John), "Mr. Vain" (Culture Beat) and "It Must Have Been Love" (Roxette) in their style.
"Da Capo" in Japan soon! (2003/01/31)
The album Da Capo will start to sell from March 5. The distibutor is neither BMG Japan nor Universal Japan, it's Toshiba EMI. Virgin Records has the right to sell the Ace Of Base-products and distributes its products in Japan via Toshiba EMI.
