Mimasaka

Mimasaka is located in the northeast part of Okayama Prefecture, which lies between Osaka and Hiroshima on Japan's main island, Honshu. Much of Japan is mountainous, and Mimasaka - like many rural towns in Japan - is built on the flood plains of the rivers that divide these mountain ranges. The soil found in these flood plains is rich in nutrients and suitable for the wet cultivation of rice - Mimasaka's main crop.

Summer is often hot (35 degrees Celsius / 90 degrees Fahrenheit) and humid. You should bring sandals, short pants, a cool shirt, a hat to protect your face and neck from the sun, sunglasses and sun cream.
We also recommend you pack a pair of rubber boots and a light raincoat.
