Sandbox

We are a group of young artists from Japan who came together, drawn by our mutual interest in the quality and potential of sand-cast glass. We founded "Sandbox" in 1999 with the intention of promoting glass art, especially emphasizing sand-cast sculptural glass, which was and still is new in Japan. We work as a team, assisting one another to create unique and original works of art. In 2000 and 2001, Sandbox had two successful exhibitions titled, "Ka ta ma ri (solid) glass" in Tokyo. In 2002, expanding our activities outside of Japan, we had an exhibition and a demonstration in the Netherlands, followed by workshops and exhibitions in Portugal.
