このチャプターについて
このチャプターでは、ナチス政権下のドイツにゆかりのある人物を紹介しています。
特にカトリン・ヒムラー、ライネル・ヘス、ベッティ―ナ・ゲーリング、ニクラス・フランク、モニカ・ゲートは、ヒトラー政権の高官であった人物あるいはその兄弟の子孫です。親や祖先のしたことがどんなことだったとしても、子供や子孫に罪はないはずです。しかし彼らは、「大罪人の子」としての世間の目、「大量殺人犯の子孫としての自分」に苦しみ、断種の選択さえしました。
単に好奇の目で彼らを見るのではなく、その人と、親や祖先、家族の行いとを同一視しようとする、あるいはしがちな社会に我々が生きていること、彼らの気持ち、また私たちの心の中の、そのような要素に思いをはせつつ、読んでいただきたいと思います。

The chapter introduces people associated with Nazi Germany.
In particular, Katrin Himmler, Liner Hess, Betti-na Gering, Niclas Frank, and Monica Gate are descendants of former Hitler regime officials or their brothers. No matter what parents or ancestors did, children or descendants should not be guilty. However, they suffered from the public's view as "a child of a sinner" as "As a descendant of a mass murderer" and even made a decision of sterilization.
Instead of just looking at them with curiosity, I would like you to read this book while thinking about the fact that we live in a society that tries to equate people with the behavior of their parents, their ancestors and their families, or is prone to do so, their feelings, and such elements in our hearts.
