Nomaoi Festival

Do you know "Nomaoi-matsuri"? During the Nomaoi Festival, the
people in the former Soma clan didn't have to work. When I lived in Okuma-machi,
which was in the southernmost part of Soma, I had the same experience.
It surprised me then.
They say that the Nomaoi Festival is a treasure of the Soma. Lord Soma
came from Nagareyama-shi in Chiba-ken about 800 years ago. He governed
the area of Soma and Haramachi district. The festival has its origin in
the enshrining of the god, Myoken, that Lord Soma believed in.
