#8 Iide peaks(2105m)

Mt.Iide is in the northwestern part of the Aizu area. It is a large mountain range located at three corners of the Aizu area, Niigata and Yamagata Prefecture.
Mt.Iide is 2,105 meters high and the top is covered with snow all year around. Many alpine plants grow on Mt.Iide. Its gflower gardensh are very beautiful in summer.

Mt.Iide has been famous for a sacred mountain of the Aizu area. In the old days, boys in the Aizu area climbed Mt.Iide when they became 15 years old. People treated a boy who had climbed Mt.Iide as an adult. At that time, people climbed wearing a white costume to purify them and scattered coins on the trail to pray for safety of climbing. Even now the old coins can be found.
I climbed Mt.Iide this summer with my friend. He acomplished his object to climb all of the one hundred popular mountains in Fukushima. And we were lucky enough to find a coin.
(August 11, 2002)

The charm and the coin we found. Congraturations!
